My CiTy BoGoTa


Bogota (formerly Santa Fe de Bogota or Bogotá) is the capital of Colombia, forms the Capital District, which is divided into 20 localities, and it's the capital of the department of Cundinamarca. It is located in the center of the country in the area known as Sabana de Bogota, which in turn is part of the altiplano cundiboyacense, plateau located in the Eastern Cordillera, branch of the Andes. It has a population of 6,776,009 inhabitants, while its metropolitan area (not officially established, but existing de facto) reaches almost 8.7 million. [3] As the nation's capital, hosts the highest-ranking bodies of the executive branch (Casa de Narino), legislative (Congress) and judicial (Supreme Court, Constitutional Court and Council of State). On the economic front stands out as an important economic and industrial center.

Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada


Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada. (1509-1579) was a Spanish explorer and conqueror in Colombia. Although successful in their journeys where purchased large quantities of gold and emeralds, ended his career so disastrous for what has been speculated that was used by Cervantes as a model for Don Quijote. There was a lawyer by profession. He was appointed chief justice of the colony of Santa Marta (on the north coast of the current Colombia) came in 1535 when the fleet of Pedro Fernandez de Lugo.
